New Updates from Lori:

Hello and Happy Summer!

I hope everyone is enjoying the time off and staying dry! This has been one rainy summer, that is for sure. I have been using that time to clean out closets and catch up on my DVR.  Not the most exciting summer, but what I needed to do.

I wanted to give you some updates about upcoming events and actions we have been taking at KASSW.

  • As of May 1st, KASSW has contracted with Jamie Bloyd, MPA to represent KASSW in Frankfort.   She has already met with Senator Max Wise along with myself and Janet Doss to begin working on the issues with Senate Bill 1.
  • KASSW will have a table this year at the Kentucky Association for School Administrators conference in Louisville on July 17-19.  As part of our strategic plan, KASSW wants to be visible at key conferences that school administrators will be attending to provide information about school social workers.  If you are attending, please stop by and see us!
  • Nominations are open for treasurer and vice-president.  If you are interested in running, please contact me.
  • KASSW will have a table at the Fayette County SSPI July 24-25th.  Stop by and see us for chances to win a fun basket of goodies!

Social Emotional Support For English Learners- Part 1

The population in the United States is projected to become more diverse over the next few years.

It is crucial that educators across the nation become more culturally competent and sensitive to the students' backgrounds.

Mission Statement:
